Discovering “Athletic Therapy”, SPHERE Pilot Project from Croatia

Let’s discover “Athletic Therapy”, the Croatian SPHERE Pilot Project organised by Rijeka Sports Association for Persons with disabilities.

“Athletic therapy” pilot project uses the athletic disciplines as a therapeutic tool to positively address mental illness. The pilot supports participants by social, physical and mental health by individual approach.

This Project aims to make the most of their individual abilities.This kind of sports approach will influence the improvement of their abilities, social and sports skills, confidence, independence as well as it is going to have the impact of performance in rehabilitation.

This pilot project activities started in November 2019 and are taking place twice per week for four months, engaging will  four 15 adult (18+) and young persons (10 – 18 y) male and female participants from with a range of different mental health issues (mild, moderate, severe mental retardation, autism) from across City of Rijeka and the wider Primorsko-goranska region.
