SPHERE FINAL WEBINARS: Sport and Physical Activity to Treat Mental Disorders
The consortium of the European Project SPHERE – Sport Healing Rehabilitation is pleased to announce a series of 7 webinars which will be delivered in December 2020 and in January 2021 in the partners’ countries to disseminate the project objectives and outcomes.
What is SPHERE Project
SPHERE is a two-year project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, aimed at fostering sport and physical activity in the psychiatric rehabilitation programs through the definition and sharing of a sport scientific protocol improved by psychiatrists and academics.
The protocol and the related guidelines tested in specific pilot actions carried out in Italy, Finland, Croatia and the United Kingdom at the beginning of 2020, allow to identify the most suitable sport for psychiatric patients with different diagnoses in order to improve their psychophysical well-being.
Partners of SPHERE Project
The consortium, leaded by the European Culture and Sport Organization – ECOS (Italy), is composed of the following partners:
- Cardiff Metropolitan University – CMet (UK);
- Finnish Sport Federation Tampere Region – HLU (Finland);
- European Platform for Sport Innovation – EPSI (Belgium);
- Technical University of Munich – TUM (Germany);
- Everton in the Community – EitC (UK);
- Rijeka Sports Association for persons with disabilities – SSOI (Croatia).
SPHERE Local Webinars Agenda
During the webinars, it will be shown all data collected and analysed during the pilot actions and the final guidelines to train and follow people with mental health problems in practicing regular and structured physical activity.

- 7th December 2020 – 3:00 PM: Horses and Butterflies Webinar (Italy) – Leaded by the European Culture and Sport Organization in collaboration with the University of Perugia and the Umbrian Committee of the Italian Equestrian Federation.
- 8th December 2020 – 1:00 PM: British Webinar (UK) – Leaded by Everton in the Community in collaboration with the Cardiff Metropolitan University.
- 10th December 2020 – 4:30 PM: Croatian Webinar (Croatia) – Leaded by the Rijeka Sports Association for persons with disabilities.
- 17th December 2020 – 10:00 AM: German Webinar (Germany) – Leaded by the Technical University of Munich.
- 18th December 2020 – 3:00 PM: Crazy for Football Webinar (Italy) – Leaded by the European Culture and Sport Organization in collaboration with the Italian Football Federation.
- January 2021: Finnish Webinar (Finland) – Leaded by the Finnish Sport Federation of the Tampere Region.
- 18th January 2021: SPHERE Guidelines Webinar – Leaded by the European Culture and Sport Organization in collaboration with all project partners.
