Remembering the anniversary of the Basaglia Law, the basis of Italian mental health legislation (1978), this year we have a double celebration. It was exactly one year ago, 13th May, when the kick-off of the 2018 Dream World Cup was held at PalaTiziano in Rome.
That was a precious moment that is still in our hearts, and an honor for the Italian Capital to host three years after the first edition in Osaka – the World Futsal Championship for people with mental health problems
Dream World Cup 2018 has not only been an event, it was an experience; a great experience for all the National Teams who participated: Italy, Japan, Peru, Argentina, Chile, France, Spain and Ukraine; a great experience for the audience, who arrived numerously at PalaTiziano to attend the event; a great experience for all the organisers, who spent a lot of energies and efforts, all repaid by the smiles of the players on the field and by the results gained.
That is why today is a moment of celebration. Because exactly one year ago, ECOS Europe’s Project came to life, embodied by all those great players who played not only for the title of World Champion, but also for fighiting the stigma still existing around mental illness making their dreams come true.
Happy Birthday, Dream World Cup! And see you again next year… Peru Edition 2020 is waiting!
Ricordando l’anniversario della Legge Basaglia, che rappresenta la base del sistema legislativo italiano in tema di salute mentale, quest’anno abbiamo un doppio motivo di festeggiare. Esattamente un anno fa, il 13 maggio, avveniva il calcio d’inizio della Dream World Cup 2018, al Palatiziano di Roma.
Un momento speciale che è ancora nei nostri cuori, e un onore per la Capitale dell’Italia ospitare – tre anni dopo l’edizione di Osaka – Il Campionato Mondiale di Calcio a 5 per persone con problemi di salute mentale.
La Dream World Cup 2018 non è stato solo un evento, è stata un’esperienza. Una bellissima esperienza per tutte le Nazionali partecipanti: Italia, Giappone, Perù, Argentina, Cile, Francia, Spagna e Ucraina; una bellissima esperienza per il pubblico, accorso numero al PalaTiziano per assistere alla competizione; una bellissima esperienza per gli organizzatori, che hanno speso mole energie e sforzi, tutti ripagati dai sorrisi dei calciatori sul campo, e dai risultati ottenuti.
Per questo motivo oggi festeggiamo. Perché esattamente un anno fa, il Progetto di ECOS Europe ha preso vita, rappresentato da tutti quei fantastici ragazzi che non hanno solo giocato per il titolo di Campione del Mondo, ma anche per realizzare i propri sogni e combattere lo stigma che esiste ancora intorno alla disabilità psichiatrica.
Buon Compleanno, Dream World Cup! Ci vediamo l’anno prossimo… La prossima edizione 2020 in Perù sta aspettando!
